Tireless in Toronto – a 2 day Adventure – Part 2

In September 2025, I was lucky enough to be able to attend a work conference that brought me to Toronto, Ontario Canada. What’s crazy about that? In all my years, I have NEVER been to Toronto; I’ve flown through it but never left the airport! Haha.

Located on Lake Ontario in the province of Ontario, Toronto is the largest city in Canada – it will instantly pull you in with its energy – modern, multicultural and cool. A city with indigenous origins, it later grew into the small 18th century settlement of York, and finally into the large metropolis you see today. The waterfront glitters, the neighborhoods are vibrant and diverse, and expect world class cuisine on every corner.

We head back to Toronto from Niagara Falls, and have some wine and a quick snack at Kim’s place before making our way over to the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada -located right beside the CN Tower and only a 20 min walk from her place, which is very handy. We spend around an hour and a half exploring and that seems to be the right amount of time. I’m super impressed with the layout; it features over 20,000 exotic sea and freshwater specimens , and hundreds of species. And holds around 5.7 million litres of water!! It’s divided into zones and galleries featuring different habitats and experiences – Canadian Waters, Indo/Pacific reef, the Dangerous Lagoon, Planet Jellies. Here is a little photo journey

After the aquarium, we grab a couple of slices of pizza to go and head back to Kim’s for more drinks before ending the night at karaoke of course! I have a recommendation for a place called Toby’s Pub. A friend of mine knows the host, so it makes sense to pop in here for a song. It’s a chill pub located on College Street -it’s not super busy so I’m able to get a couple of songs in. Kim wasn’t so sure about having a late night, but I’ve convinced her and she’s having fun but she does NOT sing. Haha. We meet a couple of local singers and enjoy a night of beers and song.

The following day, we start out at the CN Tower.

Soaring 1815 feet above the city skyline and completed in 1976, it remains one of the tallest free standing structures in the world. We head up to the observation deck for panoramic views of the city.

There’s even a glass floor, but Kim refuses to walk on it. Haha.

We enjoy a CN Tower beer, because it’s never too early for a beer when you’re on vacation.

We hop on the TTC subway and make our way to the neighborhood of South Hill so we can explore the historic mansion and museum called Casa Loma.

Located up on Davenport Hill, it’s a Gothic revival castle style mansion that was completed in 1914. It was a residence for the rich financier Sir Henry Pallett. In today’s conversion, the mansion cost 95 million dollars to build. Eventually he could no longer afford to keep the house, so he sold it and over the years it was a hotel, nightspot and finally a museum. This place is so incredibly beautiful, so I’ll take you on a little tour.

This is in the conservatory. It has been the location for a lot of filming for television and movies.

In the Library

In the basement, there was supposed to be a bowling alley, a gymnasium, and a swimming pool, but none of these were completed.

There is an underground tunnel that leads from the main house to the stables and the Hunting Lodge (servant’s quarters) across the road. They are currently prepping for Halloween so everything is decorated very spooky and it’s awesome

There are many cool old cars in the garage, one of them is also spooky!

There’s also a really interesting wax museum in the servant’s quarters, and it represents all of the movies that have been filmed at here at Casa Loma

View from the gardens in the back

We take the train back and have a little wander around downtown, since it’s such a gorgeous day. We make the obvious stop at the Toronto sign for that perfect proof of visit pic.

Me and Terry Fox. He sits in the park across from Kim’s building

Tonight, we are in for a treat…I am going to my very first MLB game to watch the Blue Jays take on the Houston Astros. Kim lets me borrow her Jays hat, so I’m good to go.

It is also Loonie Dogs Night, which means hot dogs are only $1. We get 3 dogs each, and Kim feels weird about having that many and thinks she looks like a pig. Meanwhile, other people are buying 20 at a time. Haha.

The game is a bit slow, with the Astros taking an early lead. We are considering leaving early, but then in the 9th inning they tie the game and end up winning in OT. Wow, so much energy and excitement in that stadium!

After all of this hoopla, we decide to party back at Kim’s place with more drinks and packing for my flight home tomorrow. There are many more things in Toronto that we didn’t get to see and do, but I’ll leave that until next time……………

You packed so much into just two days, aquarium, karaoke, CN Tower beers, Casa Loma and a Jays game (Loonie Dogs included 😄). Loved the mix of classic sights and real, relaxed moments. Definitely feels like Toronto still owes you a round two!
